Die Werft in Oman
A camera on the trail of the Arabian Nights
In the year 2002, a two-part documentary film on the sultanate of Oman was shot over a 6-month filming period, based on an idea and a book by Andreij Vatter.
The viewer is lured into the mythical world of the Orient and discovers a fascinating country caught between the tradition of the past and the reality of the present.
Right up close and personal, the film tells tales of deserts, river valleys and incense, without forgetting to document the social upheaval wrought by rich oil resources and the consequences of globalisation.
We were successful in securing the services of renowned documentary maker, Wolfgang Brög as producer and director of this project.
The IRIS film production for the Bavarian Broadcasting Company received support from the Bavarian film and television funding agency, FilmFernsehFond Bayern.
